Payroll Supervisor - Bedfordshire - 12 Month FTC - Up to £31,750pa
In this position you will be reporting into the Payroll Manager, whilst supporting two Payroll Officers.
The main purpose of the role is to:-Lead and manage the payroll team including the production of monthly payrolls and data reports with support from the payroll manager.
To ensure timely and accurate payment is made to employees
To prioritise the teams workolads to ensure deadlines are achieved
With direction from the Payroll Manager, develop and improve the Payroll System to ensure compliance with service legal and statutory requirements.
Provide specialist advice and guidance in relation to pay, pensions and employee taxable benefits
To develop and maintain relationships with other departments
Main duties and responsibilities:-
To manage, train and develop the payroll team, ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on time.
Prepare timetables for review by the Payroll Manager in regard to the processing and authorisation of payrolls.
Organise and manage the workflow of the team co-ordinating the implementation of new work initiatives.
Ensure that the team comply with audit, legal and statutory requirements and policies and procedures of the Service.
To be responsible for the administration and operation of the payroll system.
Ensure that all payroll processes and procedures are documented and are maintained.
Monitor the effectiveness of the Payroll function and the external payroll provider, recommending improvements to the payroll system or the Payroll team’s working practices for consideration and approval by the Payroll Manager.
With direction from the Payroll Manager notify the external payroll provider of pay awards, arrears, increments, pension, statutory and voluntary deductions, and ensure they are implemented efficiently.Liaise with the external payroll provider to ensure that year end and other statutory procedures and requirements are adhered to.
